Seasoned Exec Joins from TubeMogul to Accelerate Growth and Drive Adoption for TV Audience and Attribution Products

SAN FRANCISCO—(June 13, 2017)—Samba TV, a data and analytics company with the industry’s leading TV Audience Platform, is pleased to announce the appointment of Jen Whalen as the Company’s new Vice President of Marketing. Reporting to Ashwin Navin, Co-Founder and CEO of Samba TV, this executive hire will lead all corporate, product and partner marketing initiatives as a key member of the company’s executive team, responsible for growth initiatives in North America and throughout Europe.

Prior to joining Samba TV, Whalen was Vice President of Corporate Marketing for TubeMogul Inc., a software platform for brand advertising. She joined the company in 2012, overseeing TubeMogul’s corporate positioning, brand communications and go-to-market campaigns aimed at generating awareness of the platform among advertising agencies and brand marketers. In the role, Whalen helped lead a 23 person marketing team through TubeMogul’s 2014 IPO as well as its 2016 acquisition by Adobe, Inc.

“Jen brings a wealth of experience both as a marketer and former agency executive who understands the challenges our clients face in these times of rapid change,” said Ashwin Navin, CEO of Samba TV. “She has a track record for defining and launching products that solve real problems, and know she’ll do great things at Samba to drive further visibility of our company and adoption of our products.”

Prior to TubeMogul, Whalen held a sales marketing management role at Meebo, an ad-based social content platform. In this role, she supported sales growth objectives by developing media strategies for Fortune 500 advertisers until the company’s acquisition by Google in 2012.

Whalen also has more than a decade of media experience and has worked at some of San Francisco’s top agencies including Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, OMD, PHD, and Grey Worldwide. Her responsibilities included developing brand strategy and communications for B2C and B2B clients such as Hewlett Packard, Intuit, gotmilk?, Clorox, Charles Schwab, and others.

“Today, television is more relevant than ever before and Samba’s technology is fundamentally changing the way marketers connect with consumers based on viewership behaviors across linear, time-shifted and streaming video,” Whalen said. “I’m passionate about the impact and implications technology has on how media is at once consumed, bought, sold and measured and Samba is at the forefront of that evolution for TV audience data. It’s an exciting time for both TV viewers and advertisers and I’m thrilled to join the team to continue building and evolving the Samba TV brand.”

A graduate of Northern Arizona University, Whalen began her career as an Assistant Media Planner for the Arizona-based Martz Agency before moving to San Francisco to join Publicis & Hal Riney on the HP Consumer Products media business.

Samba TV is headquartered in San Francisco with representation across the United States and in London with further planned expansion into Europe. The company has seen a 5000% increase in revenue over 3-years and has nearly 200 employees across 10 offices globally.
